The Indonesian E-Sport Regional Championship at the West Sumatra Provincial Level has successfully taken place in Pesisir Selatan Regency for two days on October 7-8, 2023. A hundred participants from 20 teams representing various regions in West Sumatra, including Padang City, Bukittinggi, Solok, Pariaman, and South Coast, participated in this event.

Funded by DPR RI Member Lisda Hendrajoni, the championship was held at Saga Murni Hotel in Jurai IV District, Pesisir Selatan Regency. Lisda Hendrajoni, a Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the Nasdem Faction, inaugurated the event and expressed her hope that all participants would showcase their best skills and abilities throughout the competition.

“I encourage all participants to utilize this tournament as an opportunity to prove the talent of E-Sport athletes, especially in West Sumatra. Good luck in the competition, and may the spirit of sportsmanship be upheld,” said Lisda.

She pointed out that Indonesian E-Sport athletes are gaining international recognition. Indonesia has achieved remarkable success at both the World Championships and the 2023 Sea Games, where the country emerged as the overall champion in the E-Sports category.

“E-Sports is now recognized as an achievement sport. Indonesia has achieved extraordinary success at the national and international levels, such as winning the World Championship and claiming the overall championship at the 2023 Sea Games,” Lisda added.

Lisda emphasized the importance of accepting and adjusting to technological advancements. She stated that technological progress cannot be stopped, and therefore, society should adapt to it. Individuals are responsible for controlling their activities and utilizing technology for positive purposes.

“Technological progress is inevitable, and if we fail to adapt, we will be left behind. However, we need to learn how to control ourselves and direct our activities towards more positive endeavors using current technology,” Lisda concluded.

Furthermore, the Head of Indonesian E-Sports in Pesisir Selatan Regency expressed gratitude for the organization of the West Sumatra E-Sport Regional Championship. He acknowledged the support provided by Lisda Hendrajoni through the aspiration fund of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This championship serves as a test event for Porprov 2023, while also fostering friendship and camaraderie among E-Sport athletes.

The Mobile Legend game was the main competition at the West Sumatra Province level of the Indonesian E-Sport Regional Championship. The Artex E-Sport team from ESI Bukittinggi emerged as the champions, receiving a cash prize of Rp. 5,000,000. Team X-War and ROAR from ESI Pessel secured second and third place, respectively, with cash prizes of Rp. 3,500,000 and Rp. 1,500,000. The winners were also awarded trophies and certificates of appreciation.
