Volunteers are needed in a number of areas in Eastport. Some are a continual need; others are just for a short time. If you have any extra time, please consider serving in one of the following ways.

Volunteers needed during school year at Eastport Elementary School (E.E.S.). Variety of needs. Become a mentor to a child: contact Juanita Trott, 853-6252.
Senior Center needs people 60 years and over (spouses any age) to enjoy lunch and social times daily, Monday thru Friday, at their facility at 9 Boynton Street. Opens at 9:30 a.m.; closes at 1:30 p.m. when the "game's over" and the last person wants to leave. Contact Persis Mooers, 853-2364 for details. 4th of July Committee needs members. Meets 4th Monday of each month. Shead High Band Room, 6:30 p.m.
HOSPICE VOLUNTEER TRAINEES WANTED! Volunteers provide non-medical care and emotional support to terminally ill and grieving people. Contact Barbara at 726-5087 or e-mail downeasthospice@yahoo.com
Eastport Fire Department
Person willing to explore possibility of passenger and bicycle water taxi between Eastport and Lubec. Could also include short (less than an hour) water tours of Estes Head facility, Shackford Head, Old Sow, view of Eastport waterfront, view of Campobello shore, etc. Would leave from Breakwater. Schedule could be flexible. Could be a summer business for someone with a fishing boat and a six passenger license.
Person willing to explore land taxi service such as was once provided by Sunrise Taxi. Some way to transport residents and tourists, especially those arriving by boat to Eastport facilities. Could be a summer or year round business.
