DHS Cup: An Extracurricular Extravaganza Uniting Students Across Makassar Schools

FAJAR.CO.ID, MAKASSAR – Sekolah Dunia Harapan (DHS) recently organized the second edition of their sports and sustainable arts competition. The event, held at Padang Sukan, DHS JL Adipura, from Friday to Sunday, 3rd to 5th November, showcased 11 different sports, including basketball and badminton for both middle and high school students.

In addition to the sports competitions, the event featured dance and vocal competitions, as well as a mobile legend competition for high school students. The objective of this event, according to Ignatius A. Mamudi, the Principal of Dunia Harapan Middle and High School, was to provide students with a platform to compete with one another and build connections. Over 600 participants from 26 high schools and 21 primary schools in Makassar took part in the event.

The DHS Cup adopted a knockout system for the competitions, with three winners being declared in each category. Mamudi also highlighted the expansion of the event this year, with the inclusion of high school students, whereas the first DHS Cup had only involved high school students.

“We believe in supporting other schools’ events, and in return, many students also attend our events,” Mamudi added when discussing the collaborative nature of the event. Notable participating high schools included SMAN 3, SMAN 16, and SMAN 8, while Zion, Golden Gate, and Bosowa School represented the private school sector. Additionally, junior high schools affiliated with the same foundation, as well as state primary schools like SMP 4, also participated in the event.
