Reaching 22 Regencies in Aceh, Indosat Network Integration Supports Regional Economic Improvement

Beritasumut.com – As part of its commitment to accelerating the digitalization of Indonesia, Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) continues to strengthen its infrastructure network throughout the country, particularly in Aceh Province in western Indonesia. Following the merger, Indosat has successfully integrated its network in 22 out of 23 regencies in Aceh. With the completion of network integration in the northernmost region of Sumatra Island, it is expected to empower the people of Aceh and enhance the region’s economy through the use of digital technology.

SVP – Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s Head of Sumatra Region, Fahd Yudhanegoro, stated that Aceh Province is one of Indosat’s top priorities for network integration since the merger. “Utilizing Multi-Core Operator Network (MOCN) technology for network integration, the Indosat network is now expanding in Aceh Province, covering both the West Coast and the East Coast of Aceh,” he said in a press release on Tuesday (03/10/2023).

The growth of 4G mobile BTS (Base Transceiver Station) in Aceh recorded a significant increase of 106% in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the same period in the previous year. Additionally, there was a 6% increase in 4G user data and a 24% increase in traffic data. These improvements came after the establishment of Indosat’s network in 62 new sub-districts across Aceh Province.

Furthermore, to provide an exceptional network experience, Indosat, through its Tri brand, organized the Mobile Legend ESports Tournament on Sabang Island on September 17. The tournament attracted 35 participants. Yesias Petrus Boeboe, Head of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s Sumatra District Operations, explained that “One of Tri’s target markets is Generation Z, who are enthusiastic about and actively engaged in esports activities. Through the Mobile Legend tournament in Sukakarya District, Sabang City, we want to showcase the expanding Indosat network in Sabang Island and its surroundings.”

Participants of the Mobile Legend tournament received a Tri starter card with a 5 GB data quota, and the top three winners had the opportunity to win cash prizes totaling more than IDR 3,000,000. Additionally, one of the sponsors, Hero Community & Leo Community, awarded Mobile Legend diamonds to the top three winners.
