Picnics

Your picnic can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. The selection of foods and location are your choice because Eastport offers so much. The Day Trips section has a variety of ideas for picnic locations. This is an excellent way to enjoy Eastport with your pets.

Buy a jar of peanut butter, a loaf of bread, plastic knives, and some drinks at the R&M IGA. Pack them in your backpack and you're off. R&M IGA also has freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, fruit, and other goodies in the deli and produce departments. At
Raye's Mustard Mill you will find a variety of gourmet food, coffee, Maine beers & wines, smoked salmon, specialty cheeses, ice cream, steamed hot dogs & kielbasa.

Buy a container of crabmeat at the Seaview Campground. Make sandwiches with bread, mayonnaise and a small amount of celery from R&M IGA. They even have chopped celery. These sandwiches are fit for a king! At the Seaview you can buy cooked or uncooked lobsters. You decide the fixings. They also sell clams and fish.

The R&M IGA has live lobsters. Look in the meat case for the freshest seafood. The meat room staff can also obtain a variety of "yummies" for your grill or oven. Order a whole salmon or a salmon roast 24 hours in advance. R&M IGA, 853-4050.

You can buy your picnic at the Breakwater at Rosie's. Bank Square Pizza & Deli, 34 Water Street, 853-2709 and the WaCo Diner, 47 Water Street, 853-4046 will be happy to prepare a picnic. The WaCo Diner and the R&M IGA bakery prepare whole pies, cakes, and other dessert goodies to top off your feast.

If you are grilling and need propane, it is available at Seaview Campground (16 Norwood Road, 853-4471) and Dead River Company (74 Key Street, 853-4202).
