Many of Eastport's artists are productive citizens living quietly in their homes. Their talents are shared only with family and friends. Relax, look and listen to the people you meet. You will find a hidden talent. If you are here in the proper season, you'll hear a tune from Bob Godfrey's dandelion stem oboe. At church fairs you'll marvel at the crafts. If you are extremely lucky, you'll sample Freda's fudge or her "to die for" fish chowder.
You'll enjoy these artists:
Ted Kuper: Mr. Kuper's treasure isn't easily seen but you may enjoy it in the summer if you stop to visit. Even though he lives in downtown Eastport, hidden away in his intimate backyard is a lovely colonial style garden filled with roses and vegetables. Everything is planted just as if it was 1802 instead of 2005. Mr. Kuper's expertise comes from years of working at Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts.
Jade's Quilts, 853-4500 Doris Marshfield will complete your quilt or make a new quilt, off the rack or custom.
Peter Small, 8 Pleasant Street, 853-2953. A visit with Peter in his garage while he crafts his unique bird houses and feeders is enjoyable. His creations are displayed along the fence and in the gardens of his lovingly restored hilltop home. Peter's stories can help you see the Eastport of the past.
