In the Eastport area you'll find a variety of musicians. There are several bluegrass groups that are enjoyed at area foot-stomping, hand-clapping, singing events throughout the year. Bagpipers are a big part of the Eastport 4th of July parade and festivities. Contemporary and rock groups may be heard at the La Sardina Loca and other area night spots. Throughout the summer free classical music concerts are held each Wednesday night at 7:30 at the Sacred Heart Church parish hall in Lubec through the SummerKeys) program. Concerts and recitals are planned throughout the year in Eastport by the Arts Council. Visitors are often pleased to hear the quality of the performances in this area. What may seem to be a simple afternoon or evening performance may surprise you with the expertise of the musicians. In Boston it is a treat to go to The Pops and listen to the orchestra perform. In Machias you may be treated to an intimate church recital of music performed by summer residents Keith Lockhart, conductor of The Boston Pops, and his wife. If you listen, you'll be enthralled by the music of Washington County, Maine.
