Eastport Non-Mosquitoes

For a variety of reasons mosquitoes have chosen not to inhabit Moose Island, Eastport, Maine. We enjoy them when we venture out to Route 1 and beyond, but we are content to live without them at home. We would appreciate your diligence in ensuring that no mosquitoes are trapped in your vehicle or on your person when you turn off Route 1 onto Route 190 on your journey into Eastport. If you happen upon a mosquito in Eastport, we would appreciate your cooperation in seeing that it is promptly removed from the local environment. Sincere thanks for your assistance. Our lack of mosquitoes is one way we are unique from the rest of Maine. We enjoy being different!

The Blackfly population also stays away from Eastport. We'd appreciate your diligence in applying similar rules for removal to them. We're happy to travel to Whiting for the Blackfly Celebrations in early June at The Puffin Pines.
